Self-Love Guide

SHEro Inspired Challenge
Day 4: Create your Self Love Guide.

2014 SELF LOVE GUIDE

Normally before my foot hits the floor I tell The Lord Good Morning (by faith) Then I will read the word either YouVersion or my King James Version. Then at some point after I Spread my bed because once leaving my room there is always something therapeutic about jumping into a nicely made bed.

I Eat a proper breakfast: I used to be the type of person who claimed they couldn’t eat in the early morning. I’d find myself at 12 noon with a very angry tummy. These days I eat my favorite meal of the day which is breakfast because it’s nourishing to my body and it’s important to me.

Slow down: Lately, I’ve been more aware of when i’m rushing through things. Even the simple task of applying Shea butter after a shower, even when I wasn’t in a rush. Slowing down allows me to enjoy moments instead of rushing through them.
Smell Amazing: I have been blessed with sensitive skin (yay me), so perfumes and body splashes are usually a no go, but I love to smell nice. I like to indulge in essential oils and scented Shea butter whips because smelling great always seems to lift my mood.
Stay organized: What’s my biggest fear? Being unorganized drives me nuts and I get completely engulfed in the process (OCD anyone?) However, much like taking things slow getting organized allows for my days to go much smoother. Thus, less stress.
Get enough sleep…
Gone are the days of being a member of #teamstayawake pass three. Lol

March is Women’s History Month

Still I Rise
by Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Re-Introducing Love

Dear….

Why is it that the announcement of 3 words can turn the very course of nature?

Making grown men shiver or grasp for air as if they will never see day light again.

Words most teenagers giggle to, but so long to hear.

Women of all ages want to hear these words while imagining white dresses and baby carriages.

Who were these words befitting?
What was the intended purpose?

Is it so you can introduce me as your lady, go 50/50 on a house & then have a baby?
Or
Is it a temporary fix to the loneliness of your loins?

Released behind smiles that promises are forever but never seeing the fruit of such said words.

Fruit yes! Fruit love is patient, kind, loyal, consistent never angry and doesn’t insist on it’s own way.

Love isn’t a fist
Love isn’t a bribe
Love isn’t a compromise for you to do wrong.

Love is extreme
Love is extravagant
Love covers faults & never exposes.

Counting up the cost of such said words is wise!

Do you love your loved ones to life? or
Do you live to love them to death?

Our words determine the very course of nature, changes and engages debates of death or life.

You choose the path by releasing life or death through the power of the tongue.

Re-Introducing you to Love through the power to think right, Love right & write right, Love.

My Mission Statement

SHEro Inspired Challenge
Day 2: Create Your Mission Statement

This is a tough one, because so many different things came to mind. When I think about a mission statement, I often imagine an action plan that helps you to achieve your life purpose.

My mission statement is:
To always honour God & myself.
I have always been a strong believer that by empowering myself I could help other to do the same. My purpose is to live a life that inspires others and I can see no better way of doing than having a mission that encourages me to be a living example.

In the Silence

Dear…

As time goes by I sit and think about what’s going on around me. I hear sirens, heading speedily down some busy street. I wonder if it were you would you want that same Ambulance to have to blow it’s horn repeatedly in order to save your life? I also lay here wondering how much thought God had to put into the rain that’s falling? There’s so much commotion around us have you ever stopped and took the time out to listen. I hear a few moments of silence, but actually not really for when there is silence, it isn’t really silence for within sound there is sounds.

Another horn blasting, the pitter patter of feet as some one announces their arrival to a visitor. Cars going and coming in the wetness of the rain that God allowed us to enjoy.

The Life of someone’s Daughter, the laughter of someone’s Son. An Ambulance to someone’s aide, rain for which to some is a blessing and to others a curse. But the life of which someone missed out on today, and another is introduced to.
Stop! and listen to that which surrounds you, people, places and things.

A life we should never take for granted, we are fortunate enough to be able to hear Sirens, smell rain and see commotion going on around us. Others are less fortunate they have never been able to use all five senses.

Selah!

I know you know this but sometimes we forget. Smile for someone else that can’t, dance for someone else that can’t, shout for someone else that can’t, live for someone else that can’t.

I dedicate this to all that have a disability that was told I can’t. Even if you can’t, you will because people like me will do it for you.

Ps take 5 sec to do it for someone else.

Love Letter 2 Self

SHEron Inspired Challenge
Day 1: Write A Love Letter 2 Self

Dear Geraldine,
I have never really wrote a letter to you. I guess in many ways I forget that you need to be feel forgiven, cherished and loved. Its been a rough 43 years and I know you’ve had your fair share of challenges, but this is not that kind of letter. I want you to know that even though you’re not perfect I fully embrace how imperfect and unpredictable you can be. I know you often want to hide behind mascara and lip gloss but I implore you to take them off for a minute and remember how you learned gentleness from your sensitive skin. How refusing to wear make-up for months and boldly flashing your smile inspired a young lady to ask, “How do you stay so confident?” Don’t forget how your acne taught you to value your inner beauty more than your outward beauty. Those spots taught you so much, so the next time you feel like hiding them, say thank you instead.
Whenever you feel like you are getting lost in the crowd or that you’re simply unremarkable remember that you are an amalgamation of traits that may seem mundane individually, but collectively they are what make you undeniably unique. You are unique because you have the perfect ratio of reasonable maturity and childish curiosity . You see the many facets of this world simultaneously, and I love how the simplest things like seeing a butterfly excites you. I love how you’d rather feel music than listen to it and that you can read a fluffy article on nail art one minute and get excited about the existence of life in another country the next. And though many of these things may seem dull to others, never forget that in a world populated with billions of people, not one is exactly like you. That in and of itself is amazing.
I love that you are good at finding ways to entertain yourself, because then you are never truly bored. I like how you can express yourself in different creative outlets and you are finding new forms of self expression everyday. You are a good friend and though you get so invested in their problems you want to strangle them, your genuine love and care is admirable. Your sense of style has evolved in so many ways, but you’ve become so good at picking the right outfit in under 10 minutes.
I promise to not put limits on your abilities, and to allow you to rest when you need to. I promise to be completely honest with you, even when its hard. I promise to allow you to make mistakes and to understand that some days you just won’t be super woman. I promise to cast down negative self talk and encourage you to always try your best. But I guess my biggest promise to you is to love you, not for who you could be, but for who are right now.

I love and adore you,
